Papatoetoe, Auckland New Zealand Mission Base

Overview

Auckland Streets

Our Base in NZ is relatively new and is designed to help young people who know they are called to missions to come and take part in a first year missionary experience. To find out more about that, visit First Year Missionary for more details on what takes place during an "FYM" trip.

An FYM team is here from September through May and then a Real Life team is there for June/July. A lot of our ministry involves discipling and training these students to become all that God wants them to become. Each of them arrive with a hunger to know Jesus on a deeper level, so we encourage and push them into the calling God has on their life.

Staff

Scott and Lisa Nelson

Dave and Trena Morse, Base Directors

Trena and I are the Base directors for AIM in New Zealand. As our family keeps on expanding, the need for Trena to step back is becoming more and more a priority. As for myself, I will be leading the Base and the Staff as well as setting up an AIM non profit trust with up to 7 Board members on it.

I am still teaching Discipleship three mornings a week and this keeps me up-to-date with where the students are. If the truth be known, I really enjoy the learning and imparting wisdom onto the students. This is something that I have enjoyed over the years.

Programs

Mobilizing New Zealand Young People

Real Life House

Since I, Dave, am a native of New Zealand, my wife and I have a vision that involves the young people here. Our ultimate desire would be to lead a team made up of N.Z. and U.S. students. This would tear down cultural barriers and allow us to minister together as Christ intends. We will start to do this in each of our internships and that is amazing. But in the end, we want to see people equipped and ready to serve God anywhere. Students in N.Z. are already inquiring about being a part of a year-long discipleship/ministry program. Wow!!

We are also looking into the possibility of letting NZ students be involved in the First Year Missionary (FYM) program. Throughout the next three years, we are also planning on taking on enough staff to open a couple new locations throughout NZ. These are very busy times and if you feel lead to come and help out we would be very appreciative.

Ministry

Children's Ministry

First of all, we believe that all ministry should be "God led," so everything is done after a huge amount of prayer. There are so many opportunities and the list below includes just a few. God is opening the doors faster than we can run through them. Whatever your gifting is, there is something for you. Whatever you aren't comfortable with, there will be something else.

  • Drama and street evangelism
  • Teaching Bible in schools
  • Working with P.A.C.T., an after-school program (50-100 kids)
  • Working with a local church
  • Ministering in the "red light district"
  • Meeting physical needs for local families
  • Working with people with disabilities
  • Ministering to people caught in addictions

How To Help

Auckland Streets

There are MANY ways you can a part of what God is doing in New Zealand. The AIM website has a lot of information if you feel you might be called to serve there.

You can also be a part of our team of supporters. We are looking for a team of committed supporters to pray for us and support us financially. For more info on how you can be a part of our support team, please click here.

As we develop into our own Base and ministry here there will be opportunities to come on short term trips to serve the base and the local ministries we are working with. There are always ongoing needs with this Base and if you ever felt like helping out we would very much appreciate it.

New Zealand Coastline

We would be honored to have you on our team praying and fasting for what the Lord is doing in New Zealand. If you can't support us financially, it is not a problem. Contact us via email and we will respond to your email with specific prayer needs that you can be praying and fasting for.

Also, one thing that some people have done is to get their church, bible study, co-workers, etc to take a small offering so that it is a smaller donation from several people. This is a GREAT option because it gets a lot more people praying for the mission. We just ask you to be creative.
