Vision Statement

Communicating a clear picture of AIM by stating what we hope to achieve (Vision), how we interact with our partners (Positioning Statement), what guides our behavior (Values & Convictions), where we are gifted (Core Competencies), enables everyone associated with AIM to understand their roles and feel fulfilled in their call. As such, it should be studied and understood by all AIM stakeholders.

Vision
To produce 10,000 disciple-makers over the next five years.

Motto
“Follow God, Reach our world.”

Positioning Statement
To those Christians who are willing to step out of their comfort zone, Adventures in Missions is the missions organization that uses Jesus’ model of discipleship to respond to the Great Commission by following His call, putting Believers in situations where they are dependent on God so that they experience abundant life and bear fruit.

Values

1. Listening Prayer - Prayer is the basis for our direction and power. Acts 1:8
(puts ministry in motion; puts us in a posture of receiving from & partnering w/ God)
Common misconception: The plans we make are the basis for our direction; hard work the basis of our power.

2. Wild Trust - To succeed, we must constantly attempt things doomed to fail without God.  Hebrews 11:6
(trusting God when it doesn't make sense - this encapsulates obedience)
Common misconception: I can only do what seems realistic.

3. Pervasive Excellence - We work as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23
(promising a lot and doing more than we promise)
Common misconception: We don’t have to worry about excellence; God’s grace covers all.

4. Foolish Grace - We work with a common spirit of humility and grace.
Philippians 2:1-4

(the prophets don't like it, but we all need it much more than we dispense it)
Common misconception: Confrontation and reconciliation is optional.

5. Holistic Integrity - We do things just because they’re right
(this incorporates shalom and Kingdom - it has to do w/ wholeness & restoration)
Common misconception: If it’s expedient, it’s OK.

Convictions

Our central conviction is that we must organize our lives around the Great Commission, not fit the Great Commission into our lifestyle. See Matt. 28:19  Common misconception: We should strive for personal fulfillment while waiting for Jesus to come

Great Commission Convictions:

1) All Christians are called to share their reason for hope and to make disciples. 1 Peter 3:15
Common misconception: You must be in full-time ministry or have the gift of evangelism in order to share your faith.

2) We must reach out to “the least of these”. Christians are called to target the needy, to set free the captives. Isaiah 61
Common misconception: We should target anyone who is not a Christian.

3) We must equip Believers by implementing Jesus’ model of discipleship. Matthew 9-10
Common misconception: Jesus’ model of discipleship must be updated to fit our culture.

4) We must mobilize young people to join Jesus’ cause – to be disciple-makers. Matthew 9:38
Common misconception: Young people are cynical and lack initiative.
