Discipleship Overview
Real Life Mission Teams target young adults with a sincere desire to grow deeper in their relationship with God, and who are committed to serving Him with their whole lives. Real Life Mission Teams offers a unique opportunity for you to explore the gifts and abilities God has given you, experience a wide variety of ministries, and see God working in the everyday stuff of life. Through all this, you get a better grasp of where God may be calling you in life.
The discipleship objective of the Real Life Mission Team is that you will:
Grow daily in your relationship with Christ You will have an abundance of opportunities to go to a deeper level in your relationship with God, through Bible study, worship, and prayer in both an individual and corporate setting. High priority is given to creating an atmosphere and time to do these things in a way you may never have the chance to experience again. Many spiritual disciplines will be explored.
Discover "who you are" and where you fit in the Body of Christ You will discover more of who you are as you explore all it means to be a child of God, and how your unique gifts and personality can help build up the Body of Christ. As you discover your gifts and abilities, hands-on opportunities will give you an opportunity to put them into practice to gain a clearer picture of where you fit in the Body of Christ. Being willing to live, learn, and minister together as a team is a key component in learning about "Body Life."
Learn to share your faith and minister to others We're out to do more than just impart information and methods. Our desire is that you get out in the community around you sharing Christ in practical and effective ways. Ministries will vary depending on the team's location, but will include working with a wide variety of age groups, and settings. There will be planned ministry opportunities, and also the opportunity to create, plan, and carry out ministries as a team. We'll take deliberate steps to share Christ through everyday opportunities, and also have the chance to see God work through "extreme" ministry opportunities in some "out of the ordinary" places. Listening to God's leading will be the over-riding priority in ministry.
Seek God for your "next step" in life Times of one on one discipleship will help you "pull together" all you're learning and experiencing and process how those things will transfer back to "real life" at home. You will prayerfully seek God for where He may be calling you in the future. As plans are fleshed out, you will have the chance to research future opportunities and put together a plan to take action in reaching your goals as you return home.
